To all individuals impacted by the war in Israel, Gaza and the Palestinian Authority

Dear PhD Students and Postdocs in Psychology,

we hope this email finds you well despite the challenging times we are currently facing. As a community of scholars, researchers, and academics, it is essential to acknowledge and address the impact of global events on our shared pursuit of knowledge and understanding.

The ongoing war is undoubtedly affecting individuals and communities in profound ways. We recognize that it may also have implications for your research progress and academic pursuits.

In times like these, fostering a sense of community and support becomes paramount. We believe in the strength of academic collaboration and wish to extend an invitation for dialogue on how we can assist each other during these trying times. Our collective resilience and commitment to the pursuit of knowledge can serve as a source of strength and support.

To this end, we would like to explore various avenues for inter-academic support. If you are interested in engaging in this dialogue or exploring potential avenues for support, please feel free to respond to this email or reach out to Nadine Knab (knab@mail.tau.ac.il). Our commitment to academic excellence and mutual support transcends borders, and together, we hope to navigate these challenges with resilience and solidarity.

We are open to facilitating discussions and exchanges about diverse forms of support that may be beneficial for your academic journey. Whether it’s virtual collaborations, mentorship programs, or any other creative ideas you may have, we are here to listen and work together to find viable solutions.

One other potential option is the opportunity for research stays in Germany, where you may find a conducive environment for your research endeavors. Germany has a rich academic landscape and a tradition of welcoming scholars from around the world. If you are interested in exploring this option or have other ideas for collaboration and support, we encourage you to reach out.
If you are interested in doing a research stay at a Psychology department in Germany, please reach out to us with a short description of your research and individual needs, potentially already a suggestion for a researcher in Germany/Austria/Switzerland with similar research interests who could be a good host. We will do our best to link you with potential hosts and support you in the process.

We oppose severing ties with society members entrenched in war and are thus directing this call to Israelis and Palestinians or other identities impacted by this war.

Warm regards,

Dr. Nadine Knab (Chair of Society for Peace Psychology)
